Hospice of Homer offers offers volunteer, visitor and phone friend training starting today at the senior day care center at the Homer Senior Center on Svedlund Street. The 22-hour training provides tools for volunteers to help people who have become isolated due to illness or lack of mobility. Training sessions are 6-9 p.m. March 6, 10, 17 and 24, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 7, and 1-4 p.m. March 8. Call 235-6899.

Armageddon Cafe and the Alaska Meth Education Project hold Meth360, a meth-prevention event, at 7 p.m. March 20 at 397 East Pioneer Ave. Speakers include Julie Woodworth, business banking manager at Wells Fargo Bank, and Tess Daily of the Alaska Meth Education Project. "Found Among Stones" presents a concert following the event. Meth360 teaches parents, teenagers and concerned citizens how to reduce the demand for the highly addictive drug methamphetamine. The Kachemacs Macintosh User Group meets the first Thursday of the month at the Homer Public Library from 6-8 p.m. Call Diane at 235-0714.

The Ohlson Mountain rope tow hours of operation are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays, conditions permitting. Call 235-7669 for updates.

The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies has a free snowshoe loan program 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, at 708 Smokey Bay Way. Call 235-6667.

The Homer Public Health Center, 195 E. Bunnell Ave., now offers appointments only for all services from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To schedule an appointment for immunizations or other public health nursing services, call 235-8857.
