KBC is holding registration for a new special class in outdoor education to be held March 21-25 over spring break. “Skiing Alaska’s Backcountry” will be led by Anders Gustafson. Includes day skiing outings, various techniques, and instruction on evaluating avalanche hazards and other risks. Registration is now going on for upcoming classes. Classes starting soon include Boating Safety and Navigation; Customer Service Fundamentals, Lichens, Skiing the Backcountry, MS Word, Plankton Ecology, Quickbooks, Excel, Fly Fishing, First Aid-CPR, and more. KPC will offer “The Perfect Identity: Business Marketing Working with SBDC” at 5:30 p.m. on March 13. The deadline to register is March 9; the cost is $30. Registration for the Kachemak Bay Writers Conference has started at www.writersconference.homer.alaska.edu. KBC’s Student Association will hold an Open Mic at 7 p.m. March 30. Larry Cox, USA Director of Amnesty International, will be at KBC for films and a presentation at 6 p.m. April 1.
