Homer, Alaska - Anchor Point

Story last updated at 8:58 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Big thanks to everyone who made Snow Rondi a huge success

If the weatherman is correct, it looks like we have a little warm weather heading our way, which also can bring some rain. With Easter arriving early this year we are going to need a little rain to get rid of some of the snow. Our little ones may need a shovel to help them find the treasures the Easter Bunny leaves behind.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

The chamber would like to thank all the people that worked so hard to make Snow Rondi happen for the rest of the community: Jodi Fica, Mickey Todd, Gene Lavin, Merle Wolford, Jeff Ellison, Cinder Navrot, Debbie Poindexter, Tom Hagburg, Frank Richardson, Barb Dahl, RJ Austin, Greg McCullough and many more. Community spirit is alive and well and such an important asset. The fine folks who made this event happen deserve a big round of applause.

Anchor Point Senior Citizen Center

The center invites you to dinner. Tonight's dinner will be Salisbury steak and all the fixings. The center's community, all-you-can-eat breakfast will be March 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. Bingo is on Friday nights. Doors open at 6 p.m. and Bingo begins at 7 p.m.

SVT Community Health Center

Seldovia Village Tribe Community Health Center is having a canned food drive to support the local food bank during March. The month of March is National Nutrition Observance and center employees are doing their part to assist in feeding the people of the community that need a little boost. If you can help out, please leave your donation at either the Anchor Point clinic or the Homer clinic. SVT Anchor Point Health Center is having the next immunization clinic from 2-4 p.m. March 19.

Wrestling Program

The community of Anchor Point is beginning a nonprofit youth wrestling program. This is a wonderful thing for youth; donations are crucial and tax deductible. Contact Erica Neland at 235-7372 for information on how to help.

VFW Post 10221

Dollar tacos are available Monday nights from 5-7 p.m. Meeting day is Sunday. March 15 there will be a St. Patrick's Day Party with a corned beef and cabbage dinner at 4 p.m. Karaoke with Tom starts at 9 p.m. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be March 23 starting at 2 p.m.
