Local amateur photographer Brenda Parnell won first place in the Senior Sports division of the 2005 Fur Rendezvous Amateur Photo Contest. "Pals in Step" features Pat Pozzi and his golden retriever, Bruin, hunting for ducks in Turnagain Pass.
The Wines of Washington event scheduled for Saturday has been canceled, according to Homer Council on the Arts.
Arts, activities, stories and treats will keep youngsters busy at Anchor Point Public Library's free story time at 11 a.m. Saturday. The event happens the second Saturday of each month and is directed by J. J. O'Rourke.
To recognize and celebrate Women's History Month and its national theme, "Women Change America," Kachemak Bay Campus Student Association will present a poetry slam at the East Campus at 6 p.m. March 18. Participants and judges will come from the audience, with local poetry slammer Kathleen Balsemo kicking off the evening.
