For Hank, curiosity went a step beyond wet-nosed interrogations, and led to rummages through the neighborhood trash cans near Kachemak Drive. Since he was brought to the Homer Animal Shelter, however, it seems Hank is nice-mannered and works well with a leash.
The shelter estimates he is between 6 and 8 years old. He's good with kids and other dogs, and won't stray too far from home.
If you'd like to adopt a pet, stop by the Animal Shelter across from Public Works on the Sterling Highway. The shelter is open seven days a week, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Call 235-3141, e-mail pow@homeranimalshelter.com or visit the shelter's Web site at www.homeranimals. com.
It's no surprise that a Labrador - husky mix would be interested in people. What might be surprising is the steps one dog might take to know more.
