Homer authors sign new books

Joyce Baker Porte and Marianne Schlegelmilch sign copies of their newly published books from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Homer Bookstore. Porte's collection of short stories, "Stormbird of the Serengeti and Other African Tales," draws from the years she spent in Africa. Porte is the author of "Where Lions Still Roar" and "Rogue Lioness." Schlegelmilch's "Feather From a Stranger" is her first novel. She is the author of two children's books — "Solo Flite" and "Coho Waterboy" — and two modern Alaska tales — "Raven's Light" and "Gaston's Crow's Nest."

Autographed copies of "A Night Too Dark," the new Kate Shugak novel by Dana Stabenow, also will be available at Saturday's signing.
