Athletes head to games
An estimated 400 athletes representing Homer, Anchorage, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, the Mat-Su Valley, Seward and Valdez head to Anchorage this weekend for the 2010 Special Olympics Alaska Winter Games.
Activities include alpine skiing, cross country skiing, figure skating, unified floor hockey, snowboarding and showshoeing.
Opening ceremonies will be held at East High Friday, with closing ceremonies scheduled for Sunday.
Celebrity guests are Matt Blair, former All-Pro NFL linebacker from the Minnesota Vikings, and Jack Kapanka, recording artist and song writer.
