South Peninsula Hospital and other agencies are doing a community health needs assessment called the Southern Kenai Peninsula Communities Project. SPH offers Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers 8 a.m.-noon March 24 at the Ocean Shores Mall. The fee is $75. BLS covers adult and pediatric CPR, foreign-body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation. SPH also offers Heartsaver CPR from 1-5 p.m. March 24 at the same location. The fee is $50. Heartsaver CPR teaches CPR and relief of choking in infants and adults. To register for these courses, call 235-0258 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
The SPH Auxiliary invites people to volunteer in the gift shop or in its new garden area. SPHA welcomes new members and volunteers. It supports the hospital through equipment purchases, decorating patient rooms, the annual Health Fair, support for the Long Term Care Unit and, new for this summer, a garden area.
