Longtime Homer resident, Mrs. Margaret Olsen "Peggy" (Lund) Tener, 65, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at her home in Homer.
A celebration of Peggy's life is at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 238 Jenny Lane in Homer. All are welcome to come share their memories.

Peggy met William "Bill" Tener and they married in 1980 and together raised her two daughters.
She worked in the insurance industry for some time, then built a business called The Cooks Nook, which she operated for 10 years in the Lake Street Mall in Homer. Since then, she has assisted her husband at South Central Radar as well as commercial fishing. Peggy enjoyed photography, cooking, sewing, gardening, pottery and family.
"Peggy was an incredible person. She made us laugh. Wife, Mother, Friend," wrote the family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Estes, and father, Fritz Lund.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, William "Bill" Tener of Homer; daughter and son in-law, Kim and Dwayne Jones of Kenmore, Wash.; grandsons, Isaac and Simon Jones both of Kenmore, Wash.; daughter and son in-law, Kathy and David Betts of British Columbia; brother and sister-in law, Peder and Sheila Lund of Colorado; and numerous friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Peggy's memory to the Hospice of Homer, P.O. Box 4174, Homer, AK 99603.

Peggy was born Feb. 26, 1944, to Fritz and Margaret (Rockwell) Lund in Lebanon, Conn. She attended Miss Porter's Girl School in Farmington, Conn., and then graduated from Rumson-Fairhaven High School in Rumson, N.J. She moved to Colorado with her daughters, working in a gold mine and as a professional painter. Peggy moved to Homer in April of 1976, where she was an active member of the community working at Proctor's grocery, volunteering for alcohol rehabilitation and provided great input into the formation of the Cook Inlet Council on Alcoholism.
