Spring arrives Saturday; deadline for chamber's youth grants is June 1

The first day of spring is Saturday. It looks like we have some great weather coming our way. With all the snow we received I hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Driving from Anchor Point to Homer, you definitely need to put on your defensive driving hat. The moose are everywhere. Monday morning my passenger and I counted 16 by the time we arrived in Homer. Besides our wonderous moose, we seem to be accumulating large holes in the pavement — otherwise known as potholes — that make the defensive driving very interesting. Swerving here swerving there — and, oops, I hit that one — leaves me wondering if my tire will blow or if it will just decide to fall off.

The "Winter is Past-a" fundraising dinner for the Anchor Point Public Library is 4:30-7 p.m. March 27 at the Anchor Point Senior Center.

Homer's 17th annual Winter King Salmon Tournament is Saturday. Good luck on the water. Have a great weekend. Be safe.
