Puck drops for Bantam tourney

Twelve Bantam hockey teams from Fairbanks, Big Lake, Delta, Healy, Mat-Su, Anchorage and Kenai are traveling to face the Homer Hockey Association team at the Homer Ice Arena this weekend.

The Bantams are the smallest team in the Homer Hockey Association with just eight skaters and a goalie, but that isn’t stopping them from hosting the biggest tournament of the year.

Homer’s first action begins today at 9:30 a.m. against Delta and continues through Sunday.

Broomball tournament on tap

The Homer Ice Arena is holding its first ever spring broomball tournament on March 30 and 31.

There are four games guaranteed for each team and a $500 entry fee per team.

The top three teams in the tournament win cash prizes with $500 going to the winning team.

There is also a tournament barbecue at 4:30 p.m. March 31.
