Kenai Peninsula Borough SChool District

District:

April 4: School board meets; Soldotna.

Chapman School

April 5-7: Testing, grades 3-8.

April 11-15: Artist in residence.

Connections

Note: Registration is open for Homer Connections grades 7-12 to attend an overnight field trip to Kasitsna Bay April 19-20. The trip will focus on exploring the intertidal zones of Jakalof and Kasitsna beaches. The trip is sponsored by Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies. Pre-registration is required.

Homer Middle School

March 28: Track and field begins.

April 1: Seventh annual middle school math meet. HMS.

April 12: Site council meeting.

April 15: Track Kenai invite, 3 p.m.

April 18: Choir and band concert, Mariner Theatre, 7 p.m.

April 21: Track Soldotna invite, 3 p.m.

McNeil Canyon Elementary School

Through Friday: Swim lessons, grades 1 and 3.

March 28: Skiing.

March 28-April 1: Swim lessons, grades K and 2.

March 30: Skating.

March 31: Spotlight lunch honoring Sam Hambrick, Liam James, Neviya Reed, Levi Skalisky, Mattea Allen, Zasima Martushev, Jennasea Puterbaugh, Alec Rhodes, Rio Shemet Pitcher, Andrea Ardenia, Hunter Patton, Celleste Tuday and Aunia Ormond. Parents are invited to join their child and the principal for lunch at 11:25 a.m.

April 1: Movie night, 6:30 p.m.

April 10: Deadline for site council nominations.

Paul Banks Elementary School

Friday: Geography Day.

Susan B. English School

April 5-7: Student testing.

April 7: Booster club, 7 p.m.

April 15: Eligibility check.

West Homer Elementary School

April 25-31: Spring book fair.

April 29: Spring book fair family and friends night, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

April 31: Spring pictures.

Programs

Applications for the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and American Legion Boys State, one-week, hands-on government leadership camps, are due at counselors' offices by April 4. Interviews will be held April 13. Camp is scheduled for June. All fees are paid by the legion and auxiliary. Applications can be found at counselors' offices, Connections and Flex School and the American Legion. For information and applications, call Darlene at 235-6789 or the Post at 235-8864.
