Mr. Crooker was born March 22, 1922, in Ferndale, Mich. He entered into the U.S. Marine Corps Sept. 16, 1942, and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged June 20, 1945. Mr. Crooker spent the rest of his working years as a realtor and sales manager of K.R.C.E. in Hornbrook, Calif. He loved all sports, especially any with a ball in it. Mr. Crooker played all sports during his school years, and continued playing baseball well into his 40s. He loved managing little league teams and won many championships. Mr. Crooker was still on a bowling league at the age of 80.
Mr. Crooker loved Alaska and all it had to offer. He would have loved to thank all the wonderful people at both Friendship Terrace and Long Term Care of South Peninsula Hospital for the wonderful care and love he received the last three years.
Mr. Crooker is survived by his wife of nearly 22 years, Carol Crooker, of Homer; sister, Doris Vaughan, and brother, Charles Crooker, both of Gooding, Idaho; daughters, Frances Sheppard, Karen Blunk and Jill Goff, all of Idaho; stepson, Gary Catlett and his wife Heidi of Homer; brother in-law and sister in-law, Clif and Cheryl Shafer and family of Anchor Point; five grandsons; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home
Memorial services are at 2 p.m. March 30, 2006, at Long Term Care, South Peninsula Hospital in Homer. Pastor Denny Neels will officiate.
