Members of the Anchorage Weavers and Spinners Guild are offering weaving and spinning demonstrations for all ages. Participants can weave mats and pouches to take home. It will be held at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 2. For more information, call (907) 343-6151.
The Kachemak Bay Watercolor Society will hold its monthly paint-together at the Homer Council on the Arts, noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Rube Tikka, from Kenai, will be the resource artist and will demonstrate a "six-way wash." Participants are asked to bring their own watercolor supplies and a card table or TV tray if possible. Ptarmigan Arts Gallery is accepting applications for visual arts scholarships. Students in grades 11 and 12 are eligible to apply. The submitted applications will be narrowed down to three finalists prior to Ptarmigan Arts May 4 board meeting, with the three students asked to give a presentation and answer questions at that time. The board may choose 1, 2 or 3 finalists, with a minimum scholarship amount of $600 that can be applied to summer school, workshops, apprenticeships, college, etc. For more information, call the gallery at 235-5345.
