The arts being a core component in our curriculum, we tip our hats to March as Arts Education Month in Alaska agreeing with Gov. Frank Murkowski that it "contributes to increased self-esteem and the development of creative thinking, problem solving and communication skills."
Special thanks for allowing us to share widely in celebrating the youth in our community goes to Two Sisters Bakery for their beautiful venue and marvelous soups, and to the 14 local potters who so generously donated bowls.
Celebrating curiosity, creativity and cooperation,
MaryClare Foecke, board president
Dirty cars help students raise funds
The high school students who are part of the Voznesenka Close Up program recently hosted a car wash at Spenard Builders Supply. Thankfully, a lot of dirty cars turned up which the students soaped and scrubbed. Due to that, and generous donations, we raised a lot of money. The students thank all the people who contributed, as well as SBS for the use of its water and space.
Stay tuned for more car washes.
