Longtime Homer resident, Mr. Ralph J. Wolf. 76, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his home in Homer.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Homer Funeral Home. The VFW Post 10221 officiated and performed military honors. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Westover Funeral Home followed by burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
Mr. Wolf was born June 26, 1932 to Ralph and Lila (Welch) Wolf in Dickinson County, Iowa. He attended school until the tenth grade and then entered into the U.S. Army National Guard. He served nearly 26 years and then retired. Mr. Wolf moved to Homer May 1, 1988 where he has resided ever since. He worked at the Homer Boat Harbor in 1993 to 1994. Mr. Wolf enjoyed football, Nascar races and fishing.
Mr. Wolf was preceded in death by his father Ralph C. Wolf; mother, Lila Sestak; and step-father, Tom Sestak. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Noreen Wolf of Homer, AK; daughter, Debra Squires of Des Moines, Iowa; son and daughter in-law, DeWayne and Trish Wolf of Waukee, Iowa; daughter, Valerie Wolf of Des Moines, Iowa; grandsons, Tom Wolf of Des Moines, Iowa and Jacob Wolf of Waukee, Iowa; and granddaughter, Alexis Copeland of Des Moines, Iowa.
Local arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home.
