Duggan’s Divas take second

In just its second year, the Duggan’s Divas women’s hockey team from Homer advanced to the championship game of the Fools On Ice Alaska Women’s Hockey Tournament in Anchorage over the weekend.

The team played four games in three days, including 1-1 and 2-2 ties against the Kodiak Edge and the Anchorage Hockey Ho’s respectively, a 6-0 win over Chicks with Sticks, and a narrow loss to the Hockey Ho’s 2-1 in the championship game on Sunday.

Marie McCarty and Jenny Coyle led the team with two goals each during the tournament and six other players scored during the weekend.

The Divas are hosting a women’s hockey tournament at the Homer Ice Rink beginning April 13.
