Seaside Singers perform at HCOA later in April

The Seaside Singers, Homer's a cappella women's singing group, present a selection of blues songs, bird songs, and ballads — most in barbershop arrangements — a few audience sing alongs and a couple of surprises in a gallery concert at 7 p.m. April 20 at the Homer Council on the Arts. Gillespie, Wimmerstedt offer encaustic workshop

Artists Sandy Gillespie and Ann-Margret Wimmerstedt offer a two-day workshop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 30 and May 1 at Wimmerstedt's studio. Gillespie will demonstrate her encaustic techniques including assemblage and ways to incorporate photographic imagery and text. Wimmerstedt will focus on 3-D sculptural/assemblage and textile-oriented applications of encaustics. For information, e-mail sandygillespiestudio@gmail.com.
