Sports dome boosters seek help from artists

Morris News Service - Alaska

With snow and ice on many running tracks and ball fields around the Kenai Peninsula, area athletes aren't able to practice as early as they would like to, but a group is hoping to change that is looking for artists to help in the endeavor.

The Central Peninsula Sports Facility is a nonprofit, volunteer group of about 90 members, interested in bringing a multi-purpose facility to the peninsula, similar to a popular sports dome in Anchorage, said Stephanie Queen, one of the group's members.

But, getting people to care about the concept, comes after getting people to know about it, so the group has organized a logo contest in the hope for creating awareness, while also getting some useful artwork. The theme for the logo contest is fairly broad.

Entries can be mailed in to: Bridges Community Resource Center, Attn: Central Peninsula Sports Facility, P.O. Box 1612, Soldotna, AK. 99669, or they can be submitted electronically to: PeninsulaSportsFacility@gmail.com. All entries are due by April 17. For more information, call Queen at (907) - 953-7701.
