Last summer our Rotary club renovated the children’s playroom at Haven House, cleaning, organizing, painting and providing new furniture, artwork, curtains, toys, books, movies and a TV/VCR. The children at Haven House now have a clean, warm, playful environment to offer them some sense of security during difficult times.
In addition to the renovation, our club sponsored the families at Haven House with a holiday dinner and additional staples as well as gifts for the children and parents at Christmastime.
Last fall we teamed up with Jennifer Reinhart from the Children’s Advocacy Coalition and did some shopping to equip her with storage bins full of hygiene products, clothing, backpacks and winter gear for homeless kids and teens.
Both of these organizations are very needed in our community and deserve our full attention. With the assistance of the Homer Foundation, we expended a total of $2,230 for the betterment and safety of individuals in our community. We are far from finished, as long as there is a need, our club will be there to help.
Our club fully recognizes the Homer Foundation as a vital support mechanism for many organizations in this community and we thank them for their assistance in our worthy projects.
