The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce will hold a special meeting on the gravel pit ordinance at the senior center at 7 tonight. The meeting on the community plan will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Anchor River Inn.
Anchor Point Senior Center
Tonight’s dinner is a choice of pork steak or beef, chicken or bean burritos. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. There is a $5 charge for members, $7 for nonmembers.
Preparedness training
Anchor Point residents are invited to a free wildfire preparedness information training from 6-10 p.m. Monday at the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center in Homer. The training is sponsored by the Homer Fire Department and the Alaska Division of Forestry. Topics will include wildfire behavior; methods for assessing and reducing wildfire risks around homes and neighborhoods; evacuation planning for families, pets and neighborhoods; and methods for pre-treating and defending homes. The Anchor Point Disaster Response Group meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. April 28 at the senior center.
VFW Post 10221
The VFW’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. This is for all ages. There are designated areas for age groups. There also will be an egg decorating contest. Those who want to participate in the contest should bring their decorated eggs in by 3 p.m. Saturday. Age groups are 1-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9 and up. Winners will be announced on Sunday at the Easter Egg Hunt.
The monthly fish fry will be from 4-6 p.m. April 30.

There has been a benefit account set up at Alaska USA Credit Union for Glenna Wells to help pay for her medical needs. If you would like to make a contribution, please contact the Credit Union. There will be a benefit potluck from 5-8 p.m. May 13 at Chapman School for Glenna.
