Homer High School’s Drama Debate and Forensics Team and its counterparts from Nikiski and Skyview high schools will perform “Random Acts of DDF” at Mariner Theatre at 7 p.m. Friday. Theater auditions set for musical
Pier One Theatre’s summer musical, “The Last Session” by Jim Brochu with music and lyrics by Steve Schalchlin, are scheduled for 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Mariner Theatre.

Photographer offers on-line stories
Karen Roush, who created the 2006 Tails of Katrina calendar that featured dogs impacted by Hurricane Katrina, is now offering online an e-book of more than 80 images plus rescue stories. It also is available for purchase on CD. For more information, see the Web at www.tailsof-katrina.com. A black and white coffee table book will be published this fall, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to homeless animals.
Healing arts in the spotlight
Homer Council on the Arts is collaborating with South Peninsula Hospital on a “Healing Arts Loan Program.” HCOA is accepting submissions for this juried show of two-dimensional art from 9-11 a.m. May 2. For more information, call 235-4288. (See related story, page 21.)
Museum to hold volunteer training

Hats wanted for makeovers
HCOA is collecting hats in need of makeovers. The items will be revitalized by artists and then auctioned at a June fund-raiser where all the hats will be presented at a tea-like setting. Hats can be dropped off during regular HCOA hours, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Quilt show approaching
Organizers of the Kachemak Bay Quilters 22nd annual Mother’s Day Quilt Show at the Elks Lodge, will accept quilts from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., May 8 and 9, for the exhibit.
No quilts will be accepted for the show after that time. There is a $1 entry fee per quilt. For more information, call 235-7023.
