This is not the only blatant disregard for safety in the workplace. The backup alarms are not audible on the city equipment; life rings are not readily available on the city dock; the city owned boat trailer, which is used to pull boats out and put them back into the water, is in dire need of repair and could be very dangerous if one of the rusted hydraulic lines were to break while someone was under one of those boats, which is necessary when blocking them up or when taking the blocks out.
I’m sure there are many other violations and it concerns me that these safety concerns are not addressed. I have contacted the city manager in writing on several occasions and he has not responded to any of my letters. This is the reason I have finally decided to go to the media with my concerns. Hopefully this will encourage the city to address the safety concerns and also encourage the city manager to answer correspondence that he receives.
