"She developed a great love for our community," her family said. "She had aided the South Peninsula Little League through gifts of stock, funding such things as safer 'breakaway' bases and other equipment. Homer Animal Friends were recipients of her generous spirit and donations targeting support for cats. With a special place in her heart for Girl Scouts, Lois' contribution to Kachemak Bay Girl Scouts continues to provide scholarships and funding to make programs more affordable for all Girl Scouts in this area. Her background in marine science made it natural that she would be a strong participant in funding the Homer High School Science Scholarship program and she was a driving force behind establishment of an advised fund within the Homer Foundation that will continue to aid the community in the future."
She was named Oxnard's Distinguished Citizen of the Year" and a Living Treasure by the Tri-County's Girl Scout Council.
Her family said, "Her faith was strong and her long efforts on behalf of the right to die produced the dignity she desired. To those of you who knew her, I know she would simply wish you to do a good deed for another. Her pleasant nature and smiling face will be missed by all."
Mrs. Seaton is survived by her husband Ken; daughter Elaine, of West Hills, Calif.; son Paul Seaton, of Homer; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
