In May I skied the Tour of Anchorage, the Kachemak Bay Ski Marathon in Homer and the Oosik Classic in Talkeetna. The ski community in each of these towns throws out the red carpet and does a great job of hosting a fun and memorable event. These ski events happen every year because of the dedication and hard work of the people in those communities. A hearty thank you to all of the people in Homer, Talkeetna and Anchorage who made these races possible.I encourage Nordic skiers of all abilities to consider attending these ski races that happen every March. Do not worry about your speed or placement in these races. I skied with my friends Fowler and Dori in two races where I came in second from last place. These events are about fun, beauty, exercise, community and beating at least one of your friends in each race.
