Per Bertha's request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date.
Bertha was born May 31, 1922, in Jamtland, Sweden, where she lived before she and her family moved to America in 1925. She had received her high school diploma and moved to Anchorage in 1941 to work on Elmendorf A.F.B. during World War II. Bertha lived in Cordova, Hinchenbrook Island and Seward before moving to Ninilchik in 1963. While in Cordova, Bertha met and married Robert Glud on September 21, 1945, and became a homemaker.
Bertha was a member of the Ninilchik Senior Center and she loved going there on Fridays for lunch and staying to be with the knitting group who met after lunch. She was the guest of honor at the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Ninilchik Community Library building. Through contributions, Bertha was instrumental in getting the Ninilchik Community Library building started.
Bertha loved her music; she enjoyed singing and playing the accordion. She also loved to knit, crochet, read, garden and watch wild animals out the window. Bertha was a very caring person who always had a sweet smile and a quick reply.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Olof and Martha Pearson; husband, Robert Glud; sisters, Myrtle Weiner and Anna Komstadius; and brothers, Einar and Roland Pearson.
She is survived by her sisters and brother in-laws, Kitty and Harold Nemnich of Belleview, Wash., and Dagmar and Roy Solberg of Kelso, Wash.; sister, Ingrid Carrahar of Seattle, Wash.; brother, John Pearson of S. Cleelum, Wash; numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Christy Drake of Anchor Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Bertha's name to the Ninilchik Community Library, P.O. Box 39165, Ninilchik 99639.
Arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home.
