She still serves you at the DMV office — on the other side of the counter. Wilson retired from the DMV in January 2005. This spring, she started DMV4U. Don’t want to stand in line? Can’t make it to the DMV to transfer a title? Wilson will go to the DMV office and do a title transfer. If your car needs new tags or a renewal sticker and it’s in town, she’ll even put them on for you. Although based in Homer, Wilson said she’ll serve customers anywhere in Alaska for DMV needs.
“This really is a unique business,” Wilson said.
While some Lower 48 title companies do motor vehicle transfers, Wilson said as far as she knows, she’s the only business in Alaska specializing in DMV paperwork. Everything DMV does concerning vehicles — including boats — she can do. She can even do registrations for people who have bought vehicles in the Lower 48 and want tags for the drive back.
Wilson also has started an associated company, Advanced Document Services. She does medical and legal transcriptions, local pick up and delivery of documents and mail, and notarizes paperwork. Wilson is licensed and bonded.
