The Homer Spit is abuzz Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm with boat exhibits, demonstrations, kids’ boat building and the Tolman Skiff Rendezvous. The Pedersen Classic Rowboat Races start midday Sunday, with child and adult categories.

The festival kicks off Thursday night with Sea Chanteys and Storytelling at 7pm at the Salty Dawg Saloon. Enjoy High Seas Film Night at the Heritage RV Park pavilion Friday at 6pm, with Irving Johnson’s “Sailing Around Cape Horn” and other selections. And make your way to the pavilion again Saturday at 7pm when guest speaker Steve Lloyd, owner of Title Wave Books in Anchorage, will speak on shipwrecks around Cook Inlet. Steve is the diver who discovered the 1910 wreck of the “Farallon” at the mouth of Illiamna Bay and wrote a book about the wreck and the small-boat rescue epic which followed.
