Thirty-four artists are represented, their work coming from five different classes: ceramics, taught by Carl Bice and Maygen Jannetta; drawing and painting, each class taught by Karla Freeman and Asia Freeman; relief, monotype and collograph printmaking, taught by Sara Tabbert; and two-dimensional design, taught by Paula Dickey.
The expression and posture of Margaret Coleman's subject draws attention in her charcoal piece, "Portrait of My Husband." Design and color work well together in "Beyond the Horizon," by Laurel Epps, a student in Sara Tabbert's course. The fine lines of Spike Bauer's scratchboard caribou create a fine example of student work in Dickey's two-dimensional design course.
The Annual Student Art Showcase exhibit can be seen at Ptarmigan Arts Back Room Gallery until May 4.

Students, perhaps, but the level of ability evident in Kachemak Bay Campus' Annual Student Art Showcase is definitely noteworthy. From the engaging smile of "Miles" in Roxana Bergt's painting to a tea service by Ryjil Christianson, these students are serious about their studies, with talent that proves their commitment.
Aspiring ceramic artists will recognize the humor and sense of accomplishment in Wayne Flint's "First Time Big Vase." And there is commercial success evidenced by red "sold" stickers on a bowl and a pitcher made by Ty Gates.
