Art Shop Gallery
Celebrating Shorebird Festival, the gallery is presenting “Ravens,” a multi-media, invitational show featuring pottery, jewelry, metal work, stained glass, paintings and photography. An opening reception is 5-7:30 p.m. Friday.
Bunnell Street Gallery
A preview of the “The Plate Project 13th Anniversary Exhibition” begins at 5 p.m. Friday, with the reception at 5:30 p.m. The plate project features more than 50 local artists. For more information, call 235-2662.
Calien Galleries
An exhibit by naturalist artist Bill Kitzmiller will feature Kitzmiller’s 20-year experience illustrating, painting and carving sea ducks. The exhibit continues through the month, opening with a reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Fireweed Gallery
Kachemak Bay Watercolor society’s 10th annual spring show and Anchor Point artist Karol Miller’s “Peninsula Landscapes,” detailed pencil drawings, will exhibit at the gallery from May 5-30. On Friday and Saturday Mary Mueller Wood’s scrimshaw images on ivory set in silver, museum-quality jewelry, will be at the gallery. An opening reception will be held at 5 p.m. Friday.
Gail Baker Backdoor Studio
A schedule of summer classes taught by Gail Baker will be available at an open studio from 5-7 p.m. Friday. One of the upcoming classes is Basic Leather Mask Making, from noon-4 p.m. June 3 and 4.
Homer Council on the Arts
In May, the gallery features “Winged Art,” a multi-media exhibit in conjunction with Shorebird Festival. Local artists have contributed artwork, as well as artists from other areas. Opening reception, with appetizers and live music by Caleb Aroson, will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Old Inlet Printmaking Studio
The fourth annual printmaking exchange organized by Print Zero Studio of Seattle continues this month. The exchange is an avenue for sharing the art of printmaking by some 300 participants from around the world. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Picture Alaska art gallery
“Dusk and Dawn — Atmospheric Observations,” an exhibit of monotype prints by Homer artist Gaye Wolfe opens with a reception at the gallery from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Pratt Museum
An opening reception for “The Proposed Pebble Mine: A Journey Through Its Watersheds,” photographs and interviews done by Emily Chenel, will be held at the Pratt from 4-6 p.m. Friday. Also included are photos of mined landscapes in Montana by Mark Abrahamson. Chenel will give a slide presentation at the museum at 6 p.m. May 11.
Ptarmigan Arts Back Room Gallery
“Art for the Garden” is an invitational, mixed media exhibit featuring the work of local artists. The exhibit includes numerous three-dimensional pieces and a wide range of materials. It opens with an exhibit from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Two Sisters Bakery
“Soul Soup,” an annual fund-raiser for Otter Beach Education Center, will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday. (See related story, page 2B.)
