Anchor Point schedules cleanup day for May 12

If you look real close, you can see spring is trying to pop up. It's that time of year to clean up the yard and uncover some treasures. Cleanup days are upon us. The winter takes quite a toll on the roadsides and they need some attention. The more volunteers the better. Mother's Day is May 13. Reach out and tell your mom you love her and are thankful for all she has done. Enjoy the weekend. Be safe.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

Spring Cleanup Day this year is May 12. Your help is greatly appreciated. You can pick up those heavy-duty yellow bags at the chamber of commerce building. There will be pick-up crews driving the roads throughout the day to pick up the full, tied off bags along the roadsides.

The Sportsman's Association Saltwater King Salmon Tournament kicks off at 6 p.m. May 11 at the Anchor River Inn restaurant. Dinner will be $14.95 per person. The guest speaker for the May 9 chamber lunch will be a representative from the state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

Parents, mark your calendars for the annual Anchor River Kids Salmon Derby. This year it will be June 9 from 6 a.m. to noon. Free hot dogs and soda are provided to the participants. This is always a fun event for the children. For more information, call the chamber office at 235-2600.

Anchor Point Senior Citizen Center

Tonight's dinner is chicken cordon bleu. Friday night is bingo, starting at 7 p.m. May 20, the center will have its all-you-can eat breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon.
