KBC's Student Art Showcase continues through today at Ptarmigan Arts. KBC Commencement is May 9 at 7 p.m. Graduates have earned Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Arts degrees in Accounting and Human Services, a Certificate in Small Business Management, and Baccalaureate degrees in Nursing, Psychology, Education and History. One graduate will receive her Master's degree in Public Health. The keynote speaker will be Provost Michael Driscoll, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Regents are Michael Snowden and Kirk Wickersham. Victoria Wolf is the 2007 Valedictorian. The public is welcome to attend. During Big Read Month, the community will read "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan. Events: a film screening of "The Joy Luck Club" at 7 p.m. May 11; a teen book discussion at Homer Public Library at 6 p.m. May 15; the Pratt Museum's Community Conversation on "The Role of Immigration in Homer" at 5:30 p.m. May 18.
