New look, inside and out for espresso shop

By McKibben Jackinsky
Staff writer

Having taken over Espresso Express Nov. 1, just as winter was setting in, owner Michael Dotson is taking advantage of the changing seasons to give the business a new name and a new look inside and out.

A handpainted sign by Dan Coe announces the business name-change to "All Hopped Up Espresso." Bright, contrasting exterior colors thanks to the painting efforts of youth ministry group YWAM Arctic Mercy draw attention to the 280 West Pioneer Ave. location.

Keeping up with the outside, All Hopped Up Espresso's interior also has been, well, all hopped up, too.

"It's totally redone," Dotson said, referring to the inside's fresh coat of paint applied by Mokibay Designs, new upholstery, restained cabinets, some new artwork by local artists some of which are for sale and plants by Darren the Plant Man. "We just spruced it up inside."

Espresso drinks claim center stage on the menu, with teas, sodas, juices and smoothies adding to the beverage list. Cookies and muffins also are available. Outdoor tables and benches add to offered seating. WIFI is available for those who refuse to be separated from their computers.

Espresso cards are designed in two values: the $13 card has a $15 value; the $26 card has a $30 value.

All Hopped Up Espresso is open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

"We'll change as summer kicks in," Dotson said of the hours of operation.
