The 5K Spring Migration Run will be held Sunday at 9 a.m. along the Homer Spit Trail. The start of the race is located at the fishing lagoon, and the finish line is at the Lighthouse Village across from Mud Bay.
The run symbolically follows the shorebird migration flyway. Registration is $5. Pre-registration is available on the Shorebird Festival Web site at www.homeralaska.org or at the Homer Chamber of Commerce, or call (907) 235-7740. Registration at the start will be open from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on the day of the race.
Golfers to tee it up for Swede
The Swede Carlson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, May 17, at the Lynx golf course at 11 a.m. The $20 entry fee includes Homer Golf Association membership dues. There will be a closest- to-the-pin and long drive contest. Lunch and beverages will be served.
