Artist award received
Andrew Hilsabeck, of Homer, received a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award in the multi-discipline, new genre category. The Foundation received more than 155 applications from artists across the state.
Photographers honored
Winners of the 11th annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival Amateur Photo Contest are: Wayne Thompson, best of show; Carole Comeau, first place wildlife; Dewain Tollefsrud, first place scenic; John Rogers, first place black and white. Honorable mentions in each category: Marge Tillion, Rachel Allison and Quinten Arndt. Entries will be displayed at NOMAR through May 21.
Council has busy summer
Homer Council on the Arts has the following summer events:
TRAILS’ artist workshop series presents Jan Peyton teaching watercolor 3:30-5 p.m., May 16 at the Homer United Methodist Church.
Celebrating the moon
There is a full moon visionary art gathering at the Backdoor Studio from 6-8 p.m., May 12. The studio is located beneath Bunnell Street Gallery.
