More than 120 runners flocked to the Homer Spit Sunday for the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival Spring Migration Run. Wiley Bland finished first with a time of 18:19.94. Other top 10 finishers include Scott Hauser, 18:51.33; Ethan Parker, 18:57.07; Lito Espinosa, 19:04.84; Shannon Donley, 19:10.96; Randy Wiest, 19:43.24; Rory Stark, 19:51.96; Gordon Wetzel, 20:39.53; Bill Coghill, 20:41.71; Brandy Bland, 20:47.71.
Golfers in the swing of things
The Homer Golf Association is sponsoring the annual Swede Carlson Memorial golf scramble on Sat. May 22. Closest to the pin and other activities begin at 10 a.m. with the scramble starting at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be included in the $25 entry fee. Sign up at the Lynx Golf Course. The association is also sponsoring a weekly Monday night nine hole scramble open to all golfers beginning at 6:30 p.m. A blind draw will determine teams.
