The Homer Special Olympics Team joins 17 other Alaska communities for the Alaska Law Enforcement Torch Run and Pledge Drive. The Homer Torch Run starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lighthouse Village on the Homer Spit. Donations can be made at the run or by calling Carol Shuler at 235-7805.

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair invites young women to enter the Fair Queen Pageant. Contestants must be in grades 9-12, no younger than age 14 and no older than 19 by Aug. 20, U.S. citizens, unmarried and not pregnant. Enter by May 20. Call (907) 252-3544 for an application packet.

Homer Emblem Club holds bingo from 6:30-9:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Homer Elks Club through the summer. Call 235-0122.

The Alaska State Fair and Alaska Division of Agriculture seek nominations for Alaska State Fair Farm Family of the Year. Families are chosen on the basis of production of Alaska grown products, community involvement, involvement in agricultural organizations and overall farm family image. To nominate, write a letter about the family and how they fulfill the criteria. The deadline is June 30.
