Public invited to comment on beluga endangered species listing

The public is invited to attend a meeting scheduled by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor's office regarding the recent Cook Inlet beluga whale endangered species listing by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The purpose of the meeting is to gather comments from the public and stakeholders regarding potential research topics to be undertaken by the borough through a federal grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

Two meetings will be held, one in Homer at the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center, 7-8:30 p.m., May 28, and one at the Kenai River Center in Soldotna, 7-8:30 p.m., June 4.
