As a team, the Homer boys were fifth and the girls seventh. Homer will send 14 athletes to the Region III championships at Palmer on Friday. At stake is a trip to the state meet May 24-25.

Bryan Smith took third in shot put Friday. Kyle McManus was fifth. Both are bound for Regions.

Travis Kauffman finished strong in the distance events, taking second in the 3,200-meter run, third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 800, events he'll be running at Regions. Cody Smith, sixth in Saturday's 200-meter dash, will run both the 100- and 200-meter dash events in Palmer. Jacob Baker (discus), Louden Greiner (long jump) and the 1,600-meter relay team of Francis Switzer, Kauffman, Peters and Smith were all invited to Regions.

On the girls' side, Nahanni Wills heads to Regions for both hurdles events and the 200. At the Borough meet, she was second in the 100-meter and and third in 300-meter hurdles. In the high jump, Kirsten Blatz and Emily Wood tied for fourth. They are headed to Regions, as are Melanie Mach (400-, 800- and 1,600-meter runs), Alder Seaman (shot put and discus) and Erika Hendrickson (1,600).
