The winners of the Kenai Peninsula Writers’ contest are cordially invited to read their winning entries at the Homer Council on the Arts at the following dates and times:
Wednesday, June 7 * 7 pm
Grades Kindergarten to 12, all categories
Thursday, June 8 * 7 pm
There is no charge. Refreshments will be served.
This year’s readings are scheduled to precede the Kachemak Bay Writers’ Conference, scheduled for June 9-13 at Land’s End Resort.
Sponsored by the Kachemak Bay Campus of Kenai Peninsula College, University of Alaska Anchorage, this nationally recognized writing conference features workshops, readings and panel presentations in fiction, poetry, nonfiction and the business of writing. The keynote speaker will be Jeffrey Eugenides, the 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction.
Three of the conference faculty — Jerah Chadwick, Marjorie Kowalski Cole and Sherry Simpson — also served as judges for this year’s writing contest.
High School Grades 10-12 and Adults, all categories
Family, friends, fans and lovers of the written word are also invited to attend to congratulate the winners and hear the readings.
