Torch Run Saturday

Homer's version of the 2011 Alaska Law Enforcement Torch Run is Saturday. The 5K is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Alaska, and the primary fundraising event for the local chapter. Event t-shirts are available with a suggested donation of $25.

Walkers, runners, joggers, strollers and rollerbladers of all abilities are invited to meet at the base of the Spit to register at 9:30 a.m. with the run starting at 10 a.m.

Funds raised will help fund Special Olympic athletes' transportation to future events as well as uniforms, meals and venue rentals. Volunteers to help with Saturday's event are needed.
