Homer High School's Men's Ensemble Lucas Fennell, Michael Grace, Collin Hemphill, Nathan Lander, Caleb Leavitt, Michael Toymil, Charles Trowbridge, Peter Walsworth, Tim Walsworth and Kevin Wythe participated in the Command Performance at the 2005 ASAA/First National Bank Alaska State High School Solo and Ensemble Music Festival in Anchorage the first week of May. More than 600 premier young instrumentalists and vocalists attended the festival at the University of Alaska Anchorage after receiving high marks at regional music festivals held during the school year. Outstanding festival performers were selected for the Command Performance.
Pier One Theatre will audition for "The Rocky Horror Show" at the Mariner Theatre at 6 p.m. June 3 and 4 p.m. June 4. Scripts for the 2005 summer season are available for 24-hour checkout at the Homer Public Library, including "Mack the Knife" directed by Lance Petersen and "The Rocky Horror Show" directed by Kevin Co and Kammi Matson. Bunnell Street Gallery is presenting a felting workshop with Homer artist Susan Ridgway at Ridgway's home, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Fee of $50 includes materials.
Bunnell Street Gallery has been awarded $6,000 from Alaska State Council on the Arts and $5,000 from ConocoPhillips for the gallery's independent artist-in-the-schools program for the 2005-2006 school year. During 2004-2005, Bunnell sponsored 13 art programs in nine local schools. A discussion of this year's program will be held at the gallery at 7 p.m. June 1.Students in command performance
