Auditions will be held June 1 and 7 for the Pier One Theatre production of "Proof". The performances will be held July 9-18, and auditions will be at the Homer High chorus room from 6-8 p.m. Scripts will be available at the library Friday for 48-hour checkout. On June 1, auditions for "Louisa" by Shirley Timmreck will be held. In addition, auditions for "Gypsy" are coming soon. Partial scripts are available at the library. Salmon tickets on sale
Those with a taste for Leftover Salmon, the band that is, should get to their local ticket merchants post haste <> tickets are being served up by Friday at the latest. The band returns June 2 for a 7:30 p.m. show at Alice's Champagne Palace. Tickets are $34 general admission and $32 for KBBI members. For more information call 235-1921.
Call for entries
The Pratt Museum is once again calling for entries to "Facing the Elements" its outside art exhibit. The exhibit is open to poets, writers, musicians, dancers, performance artists and visual artists of all mediums. Works must be removable, safe to visitors, stable and compatible with the environment. No sharp or jagged objects. This year's theme will be movement. On June 1, there will be a site walk through and registration (a $10 fee), participant registration continues through June 18. By June 15, art must be installed and a brief artist bio and statement submitted. On June 18, an opening reception will be held. Marimbas on tap
The Homer Council on the Arts hosts a marimba workshop with Osha Breeze for adults on June 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for youth on June 16-18. Rock band coming
Trish and the Sugar Daddies will perform at Duggan's Waterfront Pub June 4 and 5 at 10 p.m. The band plays rhythm and blues and rock with vocalist and bassist Trish Ham, guitarists Stu Schulman and Lindy Raines, keyboardist Tom Broome and drummer Dave Tremper. For more information, call 235-9949.
Bearfoot Bluegrass
The Bearfoot Bluegrass Band will return in June with a concert and two camps, one for youth and one for adults. The young musicians will perform at the Land's End Resort on June 6 at 7 p.m. In addition, there will be a youth music camp for ages 5-17 from June 7-9. Registration is $150 for Homer Council on the Arts members, $165 for nonmembers. The adult bluegrass workshop will be June 7 from 7-9 p.m. Cost is $35. Classic act
Violinists Heidi Senungetuk, Sarah Gaut and Tia Pietsch will be joined by Joel Pietsch on piano will present a recital of classics and dances written for and arranged for three violins. The performance will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bunnell Street Gallery. All three violinists have extensive experience and are combining their talents to create an afternoon of family entertainment. Tickets are available at the door and are $12 regular admission, $10 for Bunnell Street Gallery members, $5 for children and $20 for family of four.
Applicants wanted
The Homer Council on the Arts is looking for applicants for its third annual Hometown Homer Tour, designed to reflect the rich variety of Homer home styles from the fine, fun and funky to the historic. Tour date will be Aug. 7. For more information call 235-4288.
Invitational exhibit announced
The Homer Council on the Arts is having an open invitational exhibit July 2-Aug. 30 titled "The Sound of Art." All media is accepted but must be handmade by the artist and must create sound. Traditional, unconventional, experimental concepts and ideas are welcomed. Submission forms will be available to the council on June 1 and must be returned by June 18. Art for Kids set
Renee Jahnke's "Art for Kids" summer classes are starting soon. Grades kindergarten through two will have class June 1-17 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. Grades three-six will have class June 2-18, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-2 p.m. Classes are $60 for Homer Council on the Arts members, $75 for nonmembers. Preregistration is required. Jahnke will also be offering a sketch class for youth. Times are 1-2 p.m. June 21-25 for grades kindergarten through two, June 28-July 2, 1-2 p.m. for grades three-six.
