Funding panel meets
The Alaska State Council on the Arts funding panel for the Artists in Schools Program, Round 1, meets in Anchorage at the Patron Lounge of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Applicants are welcome to observe. There will be no opportunities for public comments. For more information, call 1-888-278-7424.
Healing sounds come to Homer
Broken Walls, a First Nations cultural musical group that offers traditional and contemporary sounds of healing, will perform at the Mariner Theatre at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available at the door. Admission is $10 each or $20 per family. For more information, call 235-2084.
Concert supports local organization
Hooray Cartoon Sun production company has organized a concert on Friday to benefit Homer Family Planning AIDS/HIV checkups. Participating bands include The Creatures, CTTC, Contraband and Token Counter Slug. It begins at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Admission is $7.
Artists invited
The Pratt Museum invites artists from around the state to an exhibit of Alaskan extremes of altitude, latitude, attitude, weather, seasons and/or perspectives. Opening reception is 6 p.m. June 2. For more information, call 235-8635.
