With a record of 15-2 and 8-2 in the conference, the Mariners grabbed the No.1 seed in the tournament, although Head Coach Bill Bell said they aren't taking the other teams lightly.
"I'm thinking the seedings don't mean anything," said Bell.
What is important, however, is the first round bye that comes with the top seed.
Monroe Catholic, the No. 2 seed, will play fifth-seeded Kodiak and Sitka (third seed) will play fourth-seeded Eielson in the first round.
The Mariners beat Monroe Catholic 4-2 early this season and beat Kodiak three out of four times this year.
The Sitka and Eielson teams, however, are a mystery to Homer.
"We've never seen Sitka or Eielson so it's advantageous for us to get to scout them before hand," Bell said.
The Mariners play the winner of the Sitka-Eielson game Friday at 12:30 p.m.
The winner of that game plays the winner of the Monroe Catholic-Kodiak game at 4:30 p.m. Friday for a spot in the championship game Saturday.
The tournament is double-elimination, so a team can play in the championship Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with one loss.
Mariner catcher Kailee Pollack has been cleared to play in the tournament after suffering a broken cheekbone on May 14.
Deenee Andre will not play, however, as she has a bad knee, Bell said.
