Anchor Point resident, Mr. James Allen "Jim" Clarquist, 52, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.

Mr. Clarquist was born Dec. 13, 1956, to Orlin Everett and Lucille (Archambault) Clarquist in Moline, Ill. He was employed by Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley and Asplundh Tree Service when he lived in the Quad-Cities area in Illinois. He also lived and worked in Hayward, Wis., before moving to Alaska in 2004. Mr. Clarquist worked as a logger for Green Timber Logging in Kodiak. He then moved to the Kenai Peninsula and worked for Doug Koch Professional Tree Services as well as working as a truck driver in Soldotna, Homer and Anchor Point until his health declined.
Mr. Clarquist was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Geritta of Anchor Point; son, Dayne; daughter, Toni; brothers Skip, Silvis and Jack all of Elkhorn, Wis,; and sisters, Rebecca, of LaGrange Park, Ill., and Vicki of Elkhorn, Ill.
Arrangements were by the Homer Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held June 3, 2009, at the Homer Funeral Home. Pastor Darren Williams officiated. Mr. Clarquist was laid to rest at the Hickerson Memorial Cemetery in Homer, Alaska.
