Flag Day means a lot
Dear Editor,

Flag Day means many things to many people. Our flag is a symbol of our nation, our heritage and our freedom. Her colors have flown above our nation's Capitol and has been carried with pride over war-torn fields -- and still she stands strong. The Homer Elks Lodge will be holding its annual Flag Day ceremony Friday to give homage to our flag and its history.

Scheduled to be in this ceremony will be the nine versions of America's Flag presented by Homer Elks Lodge Emblem Club 350. Boy Scout Troop 555 will do a presentation on folding the flag folding. There will be a solo and duet performed by a few of Homer's very own, and the Anchor Point VFW. Post 10221 will also be there to give a gun salute, along with American Legion color guard members from Homer and Ninilchik American posts. This ceremony to honor our country's flag is open to the public and we invite all to join us downstairs at the Homer Elks Lodge at 6 p.m. Friday.
