What a state we live in. I had the opportunity to head north for the weekend. Didn’t go far, but headed north. So often we take our beautiful state for granted. Not only do we have the beauty of nature and the grand landscape that has been painted for us, we have some great people living in our communities. It goes back to that saying I have always loved: “Alaska is what America used to be.” Let’s not forget to extend our hospitality to our visitors. Show them the true Alaska.
And don’t forget to say, “Thanks, Dad.” Sunday is Father’s Day.
Have a great week and be safe.

VFW Post 10221
Meetings were changed due to the Department Convention that was held last weekend. Meetings will be held Sunday at their usual times. Thank you, Soldotna Post 10046, for holding the VFW Department Convention. The officers and representatives who had the opportunity to attend had a wonderful time. It’s a lot of hard work taking on such a huge task, and you did a great job.
There will be two steak nights a month in June, July, August, and, perhaps, September. June 24 is steak night from 6-8 p.m. Karaoke with Tom follows dinner, about 9 p.m. June 25 is the monthly fish fry. Members and guests are welcome. Welcome home, Peg and Lynn Schmidt. We missed you.
