Homer Alaska - Obituaries

Marcia Lynn Reed, 58, died April 15, 2011, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage of cancer complications.

A celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on June 18, downstairs at the Homer Elks Lodge.

Marcia was born on July 24, 1952, in Turlock, Calif. She moved to Homer with her family in 1964.

Marcia loved animals and was never without pets throughout her life. She enjoyed a wide variety of interests. She was an artist of many mediums, including doll making, block printing, wood burning and making jewelry. She was also an accomplished poet.

Her family remembers, "Marcia was such a unique and unforgettable woman. Her personality was larger than life, as was her heart. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She loved deeply, and was in turn loved back deeply. She is very missed."

Marcia is survived by her partner, Joe Randle; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jennifer Reed; grandsons, Chaz, Nathan, and Brian; brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne Hillas and her nieces and nephews.

Maricia is preceded in death by her mother, Melva Hillas; and her father, Angelo Hillas, who died April 20, 2011.
