Anchor Point planning summer celebrations

Happy summer to one and all. We have been having some beautiful summer weather. Rain in the beginning of the week allowed us to take a break from watering all those gardens.

The Anchor River has been restricted to catch and release for king salmon through June 30. If you are a fisherperson, always make sure you keep up on the regulations that can change daily.

Don't forget that Sunday is Father's Day. Have a great weekend. Be safe and good luck on the water.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

Upcoming chamber events include:

• The July 4th Celebration at the Anchor River State Recreation Area. Line up for the community parade will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Silver King Campground, with the parade starting at 1 p.m. There will be a free barbecue and carnival from 12:30-3 p.m. at the Slidehole Campground. The Rubber Duckie Race will be at 2 p.m. at the Anchor River Bridge.

• Kids' Fishing Derby on Aug. 14 at Anchor River State Recreation Area; and

• Cook Inlet Mountaineers Labor Day Rendezvous on Sept. 4.

Everyone is invited to the library in June for Saturday Storytime at 1 p.m.

Anchor Point Senior Center

Tonight's dinner will be Swiss steak and all the fixings. The center will serve its community breakfast from 9 a.m.-noon Sunday. Bingo is on Fridays at 7 p.m.
